Yes, I’ve discovered an Internet Marketing weight loss routine, but it didn’t start as one. It started out as a technique for focused writing. And still is, actually. As I sit down to write this I’ve just finished two minutes on my elliptical machine but I’m getting ahead of myself.
I was at WarriorForum going through a thread on writer’s block a couple of weeks ago. I read about a technique where you focus hard for thirty to forty-five minutes then take a five-minute break away from your desk, then hit it hard for another timed session.
Well, I had to make a new wheel, I went for an hour at a time. I had just finished an hour of focused writing and was on my five-minute break. What to do for five minutes?
My eyes fell on my under-used elliptical machine and interval training went through my mind, why not kill two birds with one stone? I got on the machine for a fast two-minute work out.
It went like this:
-
30 seconds at level four
-
30 seconds at level six with more intensity
-
30 seconds at level eight with more intensity
-
30 seconds at level ten pushing with everything.
I get off the machine and I’m gasping for breath, my quadriceps are burning, but my head is clear, and I’m ready for another hour of writing. Or any other Internet marketing task. Even the tedious ones.
I average three to four sessions a day on my elliptical, six to eight minutes a day. Not very much time at all. You wouldn’t think that could make much of a difference, but it did. That was one of two changes I made for my weight that day. The other was I stopped trying to starve the weight off. I went from one or two very small meals a day to four to six larger, but still small and balanced meals. Yes, I ate more.
Three days later I’m ten pounds lighter. As I’m writing this it’s been eight days since I adapted that technique to hour-long blocks of focused work effort interspersed with two minutes of intense cardio-vascular exercise. Not only am I almost twenty pounds lighter, I get more accomplished in less time because I take those short heavy breathers.
What are two of the biggest risks for an Internet marketer? Gaining weight from the long hours of physical inactivity and losing focus when working long or late hours.
Try this technique for a few days, focus intensely on the task at hand for a thirty to sixty minute interval then take a five-minute break, you deserve it. You don’t have to do anything strenuous like I do, try deep knee bends, even stretching. Just get up from your desk and do something to clear your head, your business will be glad you did.
