A Few Hundred Dollars A Month, From Home.

Add to your income without taking time away from your family.

That’s not too much to ask, is it? NO!

What do you need? How do you start?

What do you do first, second, third…?

The answer varies between different coaches, trainers, and mentors, but most agree the first step must be…

Your Own Piece Of Internet Real Estate

A place on-line that is uniquely yours. Somewhere people can go on-line and find out about you, what you are doing on-line and how it can help them.

A Website Or A Blog.

Those are the only two ways to build something of your own on-line, a website or a self hosted blog. Anything else you do on-line is shared, Twitter, Facebook, and any other Social site you use, you’re just a small part of it. You have very little, if any, control of how you market.

Of the two a blog is the best choice for several reasons, a blog is;

  1. Faster to install and build.
  2. Easier to maintain and edit.
  3. Indexed faster by the Search Engines.

The first reason is the most important one, you can get a blog up and running in a day, if you have the right directions.

You need a self hosted blog, not a free blog from WordPress or Blogger, because of the other things you can do with your hosting account besides just have a blog.

A blog is just the first use you make of your hosting account, but there are other things you will need to know as well, such as creating simple one page websites for a variety of purposes.

  1. Sales Pages
  2. Lead Capture Pages
  3. Free Gift Download Pages

Not right away, but sooner than you might think.

First Things First

When you are starting out, carving your piece of the Internet marketing pie, you need to think about your address, where is your Internet store front going to be located?

Your Domain Name

When you think about it, it even sounds impressive, you have your own Domain.

A Domain is the address you type in the get to a website, Google.com is a Domain. JohnSmith.com is a Domain.

While there are thousands of people named John Smith in the world, only one of them can own the Domain JohnSmith.com, that would be the first person, not necessarily named John Smith, that went to a Domain registration service like GoDaddy.com. There are more services, too many to name.

The first Domain you should buy, if you can, is your given name. If it is already taken, like mine was, try it with your middle initial and/or dashes. You should always go for the dot-com addresses, they cost more than some of the other extensions, but they are the most recognisable and almost habit for most people typing in a URL. URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator.

Your URL tells any computer connected to the Internet where your site is located, and sends them there, instantly.

Don’t get too hung up on your first Domain name, you can own more than one and at about $12.00 a year they are pretty cheap.

After you decide on your first Domain name you need to get a Hosting account.

You can get good, reliable Hosting for $10.00 a month or less. Every thing you need to start building an Internet business. the main thing you need to look for in a Hosting account is CPanel.

CPanel is what you will use to install a blog in a matter of minutes, if it has the right software available.

You need CPanel, CPanel needs Fantastico De Lux, Simple Scripts, or the WordPress icon, be sure your Hosting Provider has one of these three options.
