My twenty-two minutes core stretching and calisthenics routine allows for up to three days off in any given week. When I was developing this amazing system, by accident I should add, I would sometimes skip a day or two, sometimes in a row, yet still the results were shocking, astounding even.
I had not taken a day off yet this week, and I really didn’t feel like it today. But in order to make this a real test of my system I forced myself to take today off.
I wasn’t very hungry today. My body is now more finely tuned to what I do and how much I need to eat, and I’ve learned to listen to it, again.
Oh, those two months of eating whatever I wanted, as much as I wanted was fun at first. Then came the price I would have to pay. I knew there would be consequences, every choice you make has them.
What consequences were there?
I got fat, which was my intention. But I also got physically lazy, something I didn’t plan on or allow for. My original plan was to start my test on January 14, 2013, not the twenty-first like I ended up doing.
I looked in the mirror and did not like what I was becoming, an overweight, lethargic tub of lard.
I dug deeper than I had thought I would need to and got back to it. The good habits I had taught myself were as slow to come back as they were to break, and harder than I expected.
I did get it back, the good habits. Then the good habits drove away the bad. I got my drive back. And lost it again. I slipped up a few times these last four weeks, regained weight I shouldn’t have. Habits are sneaky, good or bad, once you have them they are hard to break, and keep broken.
In the back of my mind there as a little voice, the one we all have, telling me I couldn’t do it again, that I couldn’t get my six-pack back. I ignored it, mostly. On the days it won I would give myself a figurative kick in the back side and begin anew the following day.
I even had to break out my not so secret weapon, that magical elixir that when used properly can almost melt fat off of your frame.
ICE WATER!
Drinking water flushes toxins out of your body, and for every ounce of ice water you drink your body burns three calories to heat it up to body temperature.
It may not sound like it would make much difference, but it does!
- 8:00 am I ate a cup and a half of the Spanish Rice I made yesterday with two fried eggs.
- 5:00 pm I ate three pieces of baked chicken, two drumsticks and a thigh, a cup and a half of green peas and even though I shouldn’t have a cup of four cheese mashed potatoes. Like I said, some habits are hard to break!
Tomorrow is picture day, at this point all I will say is that I’m happy with my new/old body. But I’m not done yet…
