With Spring just around the comes two of the most dreaded Spring tasks;
- Losing that Winter weight.
- Spring Clean-up
Packing On The Pounds
Contrary to popular belief it is not the holidays that add that Winter Bulge. Do you really think that one or two days of overeating will add 20 to 30 pounds?
During the Winter a lot of normally active people spend more time indoors than usual. When living an active lifestyle you tend to eat more to fuel your pursuits.
Along with the colder weather comes the inclination to spend more time inside. Resulting in less activity on a regular basis. Less activity means you need less food than you normally would.
But your appetite stays the same, you eat the same amount at meals. It starts out slow, maybe a pound or so a week. Hardly noticeable weight gains add up over the months until New Years you wonder “What Happened?”
Thus goes the myth of holiday weight gain, the holiday is the straw that broke the camel’s back. That is what is noticed, not the very gradually weight gain over three or more months.
Taking Out The Trash
Through out the less hospitable Winter months your outside chores build up. Leaves that refused to fall during Autumn find their way to the ground. Rain and/or snow add to the mess.
Now that Spring is almost here the snow is melting and the mess can be seen. A lot of work needs to be done to get your yard back together.
Double Duty Weight Loss
With a slightly different outlook you can kill two birds with one stone.
Instead of dreading the yard work and stressing over a weight loss plan combine the two into one solution.
Approach your yard work as an aerobic work out. Rake up those late falling leaves with a garden rake. Not only will you get rid of the leaves you will also thatch your lawn at the same time.
Spend an hour or more a day doing your chores, getting fresh air, and dropping a few pounds.
You’re going to get thirsty doing your chores, so keep a bottle of water handy. Water, preferably ice water, not soft drinks and definitely not beer. You will be taking in calories faster than you can burn them off.
With just a little forethought and the right mindset you can drop your excess weight and srpuce up your yard at the same time
