Protect Your Heart With Vitamin B
Japanese researchers have found that people who eat a diet high in B-vitamins are less likely to die from cardiovascular disease.
Recently researchers that men who ate a diet high in B-6 and folate were less likely to die of heart failure, while women that ate more foods with these vitamins were less likely to die from stoke or heart disease.
Earlier research has shown that too much homocysteine, an amino acidĀ in the blood that is affected by heredity and diet, may promote the formation of blood clots and damage the inner lining of arteries. Vitamin B-6 and folate lower the levels of homocysteine, reducing the risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease.
Whole grains, fruits and vegetable, beans and legumes are rich sources of folate. Vitamin B-6 can be found in fish, meat, liver and whole grains.
