Improve Your Memory, Naturally
If you like the prospect of having a better memory, just wait until you see the “prescription.”
Take an afternoon nap. You learn and remember better when you are well rested.
The University of California at Berkeley took 39 young adults and divided them into two groups. Both groups were given face and name memory exercises at noon.
One group took a nap for about an hour and a half, while the other went on with their daily activities.
New memory exercises were taken at 6 p.m., the group that didn’t get a nap did ten percent worse than the nappers.
They also found that your ability to learn and remember decreases about ten percent between noon and 6 p.m.
Look at it this way, the human brain is the most sophisticated computer know to Man. What happens when you leave your computer on for too long?
It starts to do some really weird things and you have to restart it. Sleep is how your brain reboots.
Bear in mind that the research was done on college aged adults. If you are somewhat more mature an afternoon nap may be even more beneficial for you. Although that is my opinion and not covered in the study.
Get some rest in the afternoon to be more productive and energetic in the evening.
