Fast Food, Your Express Lane To The Morgue
How many times have you been told “You are what you eat”? It’s basically true, your food is both your fuel to power your life and the building blocks of your body.
So does Fast Food make you fast? Well, it might make you run to the bathroom faster. It can definitely put you in the ground faster.
A better name for Fast Food is Junk Food. Most people don’t like that because it means they are putting junk in their bodies for poor energy and broken down building blocks.
In our rush to prepare meals quickly we are slowly poisoning ourselves. In order to make foods faster to cook they are processed and refined so that once healthy food has been stripped of it’s nutrient value.
On top of that many Fast Food Chains use lower grades of meat with a higher fat content. I won’t even get into the overused deep-fry grease, high in trans fat.
So how can you enjoy the tastes you crave without an early trip to the morgue? Planning ahead.
If you know you are going to have a high fat, high calorie Fast Food lunch have a sensible, low calorie breakfast. Plan a healthy dinner high in fiber with plenty of fresh vegetables. Follow it up with a fruit based dessert.
Plan enough time to cook whole grain side dishes, whole grains take longer to cook but with the higher fiber content and antioxidant properties they are well worth the extra time.
These are only stop gap measures, two healthy meals against one meal of junk food.
If you want to be really healthy you should try to cut out junk food altogether. Or at least cut it down to once or twice a month.
The average person is walking around with anywhere from six to twelve pounds of undigested material fermenting in their intestines and colon. Digestion is a process of oxidation. That is why we give off heat, carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide. Just like a car engine when there is improper oxidation some of the fuel gets left behind as a residue. In the digestive tract, there is a similar build up of partially digested gunk. In an automobile when you add oxygen to the fuel mixture the built up materials are burned off or oxidized. ;
