Sounds pretty harsh, doesn’t it? But hear me out, how many Network Marketing blogs do you frequent? Now consider the ones promoting Attraction Marketing, look at the banners they use, what do you see?
Chances are if there’s a Magnetic Sponsoring banner most of the posts are about, you guessed it, Mike Dillard. MLM Lead System Pro banners and you get posts about Norbert Orlewicz, Brian Fanale and Todd Schlomer.
Pick your favorite guru or thought leader, people fall in love with the system and get all consumed by it. And why not? It’s getting them where they want to be, isn’t it?
Up to a point it’s good to build up the credibility of your mentor, but only up to a point. Spend too much time praising your teacher and they get another student, your former lead.
One thing you don’t see a lot of is people using the principles of Attraction Marketing. It boggles the mind, all of those posts talking about how to use Attraction Marketing, and almost no posts actually attracting Prospects.
Talk about an oxymoron, beginning Attraction Marketers are first taught all about Personal Branding, build Your Brand, Get Exposure For Yourself, and then the first thing they do is run around raving about the system they’re using.
Might as well paint “Ren Pro” or “MLSP”across all of your Profile pictures. Because you’re not using Personal Branding, you’re hitching a ride on your system’s Name Brand. Which can be a great tool if used correctly, but whatever you do, DON’T LEAD WITH IT!
It doesn’t matter if you follow Mike Dillard or Mike Klingler, Ann Sieg or Jonathan Budd, Deagan Smith or Norbert Orlewicz, they do not need your help promoting their Brands, they are doing just fine. They don’t want you to promote them, they want you to promote you.
Talk about the systems, sure, they’re working for you and you should spread the word, after you have established your own value. You know, like you were taught to do.
Attraction Marketing Slaves skip that first, all important step, instead of creating their own value they jump in with both feet and gush about ‘The System”, it’s way easier than creating value, that takes work. (There’s that word again.)
Some Prospects will find them and ask, “Sounds great, how do I get started?” “Um… join The System and….um…” “Okay, what’s your name? never mind, it doesn’t really matter, I’ll find someone that knows how to get me started with The System and work with them. Thanks for the tip.”
They then Google the system in question and join up with someone else, someone more knowledgeable and less lazy, someone that has completed the lessons and done the necessary work to be found fast. More often than not with the systems creator or one of their top students.
Want to keep your Prospects? Learn the lessons and do the work.
